  • In the Beginning…

Back in the 1980s, when Phillip “Chance” Chancellor was but a gleam in Young & Restless co-creator William J. Bell’s eye, Nina Webster waged a losing battle with bestie Christine Williams for the heart of Jill Abbott’s son, Phillip “No Chance” Chancellor. How futile were Nina’s efforts to win him? Pretty damn. For one thing, as you can see, it was the erstwhile Cricket’s milkshake that brought all the boys to the yard — including her future husband, rock star Danny Romalotti. For another, Phillip turned out to be gay and faked his own death rather than live his truth.

  • Who’s Your Daddy?

Following Phillip’s (cough) “demise,” Nina stole away boy toy Ryan McNeil from Victoria Newman. So Chance grew up thinking of the Casanova as his father — or at least his father figure. And when Ryan was killed by a subsequent wife, his death wasn’t in air quotes.

  • The Nuclear Family… Explodes!

After spending his awkward adolescent years away from Genoa City, Chance returned in 2009 a hunky Iraq War veteran (played by Guiding Light alum John Driscoll). Mind you, he wasn’t in town to show everybody how hot he’d turned out; Dad had just come back from the dead. If that doesn’t call for a drop-in, what does?

  • ‘I Just Love a Man in Uniform’

In fact, Chloe Mitchell was smitten with Chance. But she was so determined to hang on to babydaddy Billy Abbott that she tried to set him up with Mac Browning… who of course was Billy’s true love. At least back then, she was.

  • Playing Chaste

All it took was Chance being stabbed and nearly dying for Chloe to admit her real feelings for him. He even agreed to lose his virginity to her. Of course, no sooner had they become engaged than he cheated on her with Heather Stevens — despite striking a pose that said, “No. No. A hundred times, no. I will not waiver and get jiggy with you, madam.”

  • ‘And the Winner of the Wet T-Shirt Contest Is… ’

While Chance was making his way through the womenfolk of Genoa City, so was his surprise half sibling, Ronan Malloy. As you can see, the fellas got along like… like wrestlers? Let’s just say that they were not what you’d call pals.

  • Last Chance

Everyone was super duper shocked when Chance confessed to holding enough heroin to make a Wisconsin blizzard look like a light dusting. Everyone was super duper shocked all over again when he was accidentally shot and killed by Ronan. Everyone had every reason to be shocked. Why?

  • Psych!

Chance was no likelier to hold heroin than he was a woman’s hand during his virginal days. He’d only “confessed” in hopes of sniffing out the real guilty party. And as for his death, it was only a “death,” as Nina discovered when she noticed how warm the corpse’s hands were. And how upright he was. And how he talked back.

  • ‘She Looks Pissed, Man’

When Chance re-upped in the military, grandma Jill, sorta grandma Katherine… a whole lotta people were so ticked off that they blamed his girlfriend, Heather. What they didn’t know was that he was secretly working with Ronan to bring down Cane Ashby’s conniving father, Colin Atkinson. “Was that Heather’s idea?” Jill would’ve muttered, had she been clued in.

  • Thief of Hearts

Upon returning to Genoa City, Chance (then Donny Boaz) “helped” Abby Newman pursue the suspicious someone who kept robbing patrons of her hotel. He knew all along that it was her but played dumb so that he could keep flirting with the blonde bombshell. She was, we would soon discover, The One.

  • ‘You’re the One That I Want’

No, the vows that Chance (then Justin Gaston) exchanged with Abby did not include any lyrics from Grease. But the two of them were united in holy matrimony in high style… just in time for him to be called away on a top-secret assignment and leave his bride behind to make a baby on her own.

  • Mission Accomplished

To start her family with Chance, Abby recruited friends Mariah Copeland and Devon Hamilton. Nine months and one fraught kidnapping later, into the world plopped lil’ Bowie Dominic.

  • ‘Chance, Is That You?’

Once Abby became basically a single mom, she waited and waited for Chance to return. She listened to on-hold music and snuggled with adorably shaped blankets. But what she really wanted was her husband back. The road home would not be smooth for Chance, though — and that was if he even got the opportunity to take it!

  • Mope Springs Eternal

When at last he made it home from his mission, Chance (now Conner Floyd) brought with him so much man pain that sometimes Abby had to remind herself just how bulging his biceps really were.

  • Oh, Sheet!

As Chance and Abby’s marriage began to fray, she began to… well, stray. Before long, he caught her in bed on the couch with Devon, whose girlfriend Amanda Sinclair was just as surprised as he was to discover that the friends had decided to extend to one another benefits.

  • Coffee, Tea or Whee!

When Chance was once again ready to love — or at least make love — he tried out Abby and Devon’s sofa technique with local barista/therapist/tycoon Sharon Newman.

  • Heaven in a Handbasket

At the same time, Chance caught the eye of Summer Newman, whose marriage to Kyle Abbott was deteriorating faster than ants were going to crash this picnic.

  • Well-Suited

A shooting, a career change and a friend-zoning by Sharon later, and Chance was determined to make his mark in the corporate world. You know, just like virtually every character on The Young and the Restless.
